Frequently Asked Questions
How do I add my first supply?
Go to the Supplies tab and tap Add Supply. You'll need at least one shop and one brand set up first. See our How to use guide for step-by-step instructions.
Why can't I add a puff?
You need at least one active supply (a supply with grams remaining) to log a puff. Add a new supply or check that your existing supplies haven't been fully consumed.
How do I set up Siri Shortcuts?
Open the Apple Shortcuts app, create a new shortcut, and search for "PuffTab" under Add Action. You can add actions like Smart Puff, Interactive Log, or Last Puff Time. See our Shortcuts guide for details.
Why aren't my widgets updating?
iOS updates widgets periodically to save battery. Open PuffTab once to refresh the data, and give iOS a moment to update the widgets. If widgets show stale data, try removing and re-adding them.
How do I enable iCloud Sync?
Go to More → Settings and toggle on iCloud Sync. Your data will sync across all devices signed into the same iCloud account. Note: this feature requires an active internet connection.
Can I export my data?
Yes! Go to More → Settings → Export Data. You can export a full backup (including photos) or a slim backup (data only). The export is in JSON format.
How do I import a backup?
Go to More → Settings → Import Data and select your backup file. This will restore your puffs, supplies, methods, shops, brands, and producers.
Is my data private?
Yes. All data stays on your device by default. We don't collect, store, or have access to any of your information. If you enable iCloud Sync, your data is stored in your personal iCloud account (not on our servers). See our Privacy Policy for details.
Do I need an account to use PuffTab?
No. PuffTab works without any account or sign-up. Just download and start using it.
How do I delete my data?
Go to More → Settings → Delete All Data. This removes all local data. If you have iCloud Sync enabled, you can also clear your synced data from Settings.
Troubleshooting
App crashes or freezes
- Make sure you're running the latest version of PuffTab from the App Store.
- Try force-quitting the app and reopening it.
- Restart your device if the issue persists.
- If crashes continue, email us with details about what you were doing when the crash occurred.
Sync issues
- Check that you're signed into iCloud on your device.
- Ensure iCloud Sync is enabled in PuffTab settings.
- Verify you have available iCloud storage.
- Check your internet connection.
- Try toggling iCloud Sync off and on again.
Widgets not appearing
- Long-press your home screen and tap the + button.
- Search for "PuffTab" in the widget gallery.
- If PuffTab doesn't appear, open the app once to register the widgets with iOS.
